Analysis using the whoscored.com football statistics data shows that United known previously for their counter attacking style of football has scored an average of (1.2) goals per game this season, And a further 59% average possesion per game. The anger of united fans this season has always been the inability of the players to create goal scoring chances with them having a high percentage of possession each game. The problem of United this season is their lack of passion and Winning mentality of the players. United's inability to qualify out of their group in the champions league is as a result of lack of goals and poor defending.

The high increase in the amount of players out on injury has also forced the manager to include more reserve players in United's matchday list. Manchester United are expected to buy a side-back to fill in the void left by Luke Shaw. Also an additional creative midfielder is needed to help utilise the high possesion United are known for this season. And also a striker to help ease up the scoring pressure on Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial who have scored a combined low of (11) premier league goals this season
